December happenings

October through New Years Day is one of my favorite times of the year. If you know me, then you know I like to start Christmas music early. Why not?! The songs are just too good to limit them to only a few weeks in between Thanksgiving and Christmas.

We had a much more laid back Christmas season but it was still so full even with scaling back a bit. We started the season off with our annual “cutting down the tree day”! This day always begins with breakfast out, carefully searching for the right tree and then watching daddy cut it, drag it and finally assemble it in our living room.

Getting ready to find the perfect tree!

Found it!

And there were 8 stockings hung by the chimney with care…

The girls and I attended a theater production of Annie! It was wonderful. The girls got dressed in their Christmas dresses per their request to make it even more fun and fancy. They all agreed it was great and would love to do something like that again soon.

December also brings a very special little ladies birthday!! Our Maygen turned 7! We had dinner at her favorite restaurant. McDonalds, where else?!

Every year Tim, the kids and I all pick names for our annual family grab bag. I love this tradition. The kids love thinking and going shopping for that perfect gift for their sibling or parent.

Waiting to exchange gifts!

The very best night of the year is Christmas eve!! Ask anyone from our fam and they’ll tell you the same. So.much.fun. We all get together and talk, eat, eat, eat, laugh, open gifts and just enjoy each other! (Did I say eat?!)

Annual reading of A Night Before Christmas.

Christmas day we open gifts as a family and enjoy homemade cinnamon rolls! We love to take the morning slow and let the kids sink their teeth in with their new things. This year the gifts consisted of mostly books and games with a few other new and special things like Legos and baby carriers to wear your baby.

Getting ready to head to Malmal’s and PopPop’s for our Christmas Day celebration.

And then spending the day at my parents for a very special and relaxing Christmas Day!!

The weekend after Christmas we normally spend with the Ross gang!
Silly brothers!

We had a very blessed and wonderful holiday season!
