Thursday we left for her house b/c we had a wedding in Lancaster on Saturday.  We left for my cousin Niki’s wedding Friday and stayed at my uncle Ron’s house near Harrisburg….No not this Niki but the Niki on my Dad’s side. The wedding was here. IT was beautiful! An outdoor ceremony, dining and dancing underneath a big white tent. It was so beautiful. On the way home on Sunday, Tim and I stopped here to let Erin feed the ducks and fish. We ate dinner outside on the upper deck and listened to the music. All in all it was a great weeekend.

(Have I annoyed everyone with my links yet?!?!?!)

Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

We had a follow up pediatrician apt today. Erin needed to have WIC forms completed and Maygen needed to be weighed. Erin weighed in at 27 lbs and 37 inches. Maygen is 6 lbs 4 ounces! She has gained an ounce a day since last Friday! Go Pregestimil formula! As smelly as it is, if it works, what can you do!?!?? (And that was only at 22 cal/ounce) Next week we’ll bump to 24 cal/ounce and then possibly end up at 28 cal/ounce by the end of May. I’m not sure though b/c that is a lot of extra calories and formula is different than fortified BM.

Here are some photos from our new house!

Well that’s most of the pictures!

Happy Mother’s Day to everyone!

So I called the liver specialists that night and they explained that the formula is not for low birth weight babies who do not have liver problems. They said it is very safe. The protiens are already broken down so it’s easier to digest. So I still do 4 bottles of that and then nurse around 4 times a day. I have to call tomorrow so they can start increasing the calorie to ounce ratio. I’m only at 20 now. I think i’ll go up to 24 Friday and then probably 26 by next Friday.

I was so crushed when I had to give her the bottle of formula….(in my head it was different than a bottle of fortified breast milk). I cried. I felt defeated. I do feel better now but I was struggling with it. I also thought that they may make me stop BF altogether but that’s not the intention. So i’ve increased pumping to make up for the loss of breastfeeding for now. So i’ll continue that path until HOPEFULLY we can nurse more than get bottles! I guess I was frusterated b/c this isn’t “normal”. But the pregnancy wasn’t, the delivery wasnt’, the first 3 months of her life weren’t so why would I think this would be any different???? But what is ‘NORMAL’?

We had a nice time away at her house! Funny story:

On the way there

Me to Erin, “Where’s Missa?”

Erin, “At work”

Me to Erin, “Does daddy work?”

Erin, “Yes”

Me to Erin again, “Does Mommy work?”

Erin, “NO”

Me to Erin, “Then what do I do all day?”

Erin, “Nurse the baby.”

So there you have it from the eyes of a two year old!

Magen was weighed on Friday….:( She only gained 4 ounces in 17 days. Not good at all….I had been nursing around 4-5 times a day and using 28 cal fortified bottles (2-3 ounces in each) and still no weight gain.

The liver doctor put her on Pregestimil formula b/c her liver may not be absorbing the fats the right way. BUT I was just on enfamil web site and read this:

The unique formulation of Pregestimil is designed for feeding babies with diseases or disorders that make it difficult for them to absorb the fat blend in most other formulas. These conditions include short–bowel syndrome, steatorrhea (fat in the stool), cystic fibrosis or persistent diarrhea that does not respond to treatment.
 AND IT STATED THIS:

CAUTION
Enfamil Pregestimil is not recommended for routine use in very-low-birth-weight infants. Some of these infants may be at increased risk of developing gastrointestinal complications.

HELLO????? Are we sure this is the right formula? I mean wouldn’t it be better to be on the enfa care LIPIL desinged for prematurity????

I’m going to definetely call tomorrow…she has none of the reasons why and she was low birth weight…

On another note. Tim and I are going to my sister’s for a few days. We’ll be back Wed. afternoon!

I’ll post pics of my house soon:)

So for those of you who haven’t heard yet, Tim and I bought a house over the weekend! We are very excited about it. Our biggest fear was that we would be stuck in this town house forever b/c we wouldn’t be able to afford a house on one income…well I guess we’ve solved that problem!

The house has everything I’ve always wanted:

1. A fireplace
2. A game room (well that’s more Tim’s want!)
3. Close to church
4. Close to family and friends
5. Big yard
6. 3 bedrooms
7. A dining room
8. Covered side porch
9. Move in condition
10. Updated kitchen inlcuding ALL appliances
11. A lot of storage
12. Two floors (seeing how our first house was a ranch and it drove me crazy!)

It also has a pool with a deck! I guess we’ll be having the next youth swim party! We close June 27th.

We weren’t even looking but everything was so perfect we decided to make an offer and they accepted it. We looked for months and months when we finally found our last home. We never really LOVED it but LIKED it very much. Well this one we immediately LOVED! When we got the call that said they accepted our bid, Erin ran around jumping and saying, “house, house!”.

So we unfortunately have to move again…not looking forward to that. But as I was telling her and her alteast for this move I won’t be pregnant. (For the last two I was 8 months and then this last one I was 4 months…not fun packing while pregnant.) But this will be our last move for a really long time!

Well that’s my new news.
